THE PHRASE DERIVES FROM TEXAN RANCHER AND POLITICIAN
SAM MAVERICK
“The phrase maverick is described through Wikipedia as “an unbranded variety animal”, “One who does not abide through rules” or “one that creates or makes use of unconventional and/or arguable thoughts or practices”. The phrase derives from Texan rancher and politician Sam Maverick, who allowed his unbranded farm animals to roam semi-wild instead of branding them and penning them in fenced-in ranges as a principle. This type of self-reliant spirit describes the companies, marketers and entrepreneurial leaders being certified as a Maverick.
Rick, Gary & Darryl have all been constructing businesses for over 30+ years – Always developing new agencies and businesses that are different, unique, and against the grain – most of the time with great success for the business, the family, and those other Mavericks’ they are associated with. Their greatest joy is to blaze the path and share the knowledge for other Mavericks and entrepreneurs to learn and assist in their path.
Samuel Augustus Maverick
(July 23, 1803 – September 2, 1870) was a Texas lawyer, politician, land baron and signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence. His name is the source of the term “maverick,” first cited in 1867, which means “independently minded.”
